Brewer Kunnemann and Alex Kokan had another shutout for Pope. They were on the game as Sprayberry was taking a lot of shots on goal.

The Pope JV Boys next play East Paulding JV Boys on Monday at home at 7:00 PM.

Pope 4 - Sprayberry 3

Franklin Robinson’s goal with 3:12 remaining in the second overtime was the difference as Pope upended east Cobb rival Sprayberry 4-3 in a Region 5AAAA match on Saturday.

David Smith scored the only goal of the first halfand it gave the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead at the half.

Jonas Voet put Pope up 2-0 early in the second, but the Yellow Jackets quickly cut into the lead when Collin Schalk found the back of the net.

Kalum Eaton tied the score with 6 minutes to play, and it would stay that way as the teams headed to overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime, Collin Huber put Pope back in front with 4:45 remaining in the second 5 minute overtime. A minute later, Eaton tied the game again and set the stage for Robinson.

Ian Van Buskirk, Robinson, Voet and Ben Doran each had assists for the Greyhounds. Taylor Torson and Crawford Standifer had assists for Sprayberry.
