Boys JV

Pope 1 - Lithia Springs 0

In a rain soaked and shortened game, the Pope JV Boys took on a very competitive team. The team's played one half, and then concluded.

Pope's lone score was on a 30+ yard kick by Grant Powell. Another shutout by Brewer Kunnemann and Alex Kokan. 

Pope JV Boys next play Sprayberry on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 1PM at Pope.

Pope 1 - Lithia Springs 3

Pope Varsity Boys team ran into some bad weather, bad playing conditions, and a enthusiastic and aggressive Lithia Springs Team.  The game was extremely competitive in the first half with the score 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Lithia Springs scored on a short crossing shot with 35:19 left in the half. Lithia Springs up 1-0.  Pope responded shortly thereafter with a strong kick by David Smith to tie the score at 1-1 with 33:20 left in the half.

The teams fought competitively until Lithia Springs scored again with 15:16 left in the half to go up 2-1. The Pope backline was continously challenged with the deep Lithia Springs kicks into our territory, and the speed and passing skills of the Lithia Springs players.  With 3:51 remaining in the game, Lithia Springs scored again to make the final score: Lithia Springs 3 vs Pope 1.

The Pope Varsity Boys are now 7-2 in Region 5AAAA standings, and 8-3 on the season.  Pope Varsity Boys next play Sprayberry on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Pope.
