Boys Varsity

Pope -0 vs North Cobb -0

The Boys Varsity team had to gel quickly after losing 12 Seniors off last years team to hold off a talented and speedy North Cobb Team.  Aiden Luna made several diving saves to keep the game all knotted up.  Collin Huber had the best opportunity to break the tie. He beat the charging keeper, but his shot from distance hit the crossbar, and the Warriors managed to clear the ball.

Girls Varsity

Pope -3 vs North Cobb -0

The Girls Varsity team came out cautiously in the first half, and played a very fit North Cobb team to a score of 0-0 at halftime.  Freshman Parker Schroedel broke the ice with her first goal as a Greyhound to end the standoff.  Patrica Tancredi (Junior) then found the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0.  Then Senior captain Emily Gaid scored off a corner kick as she bent the ball into the back of the net off the set piece.  Beckham would have been proud!

The Greyhounds shut out the North Cobb Warriors with a stout defense.  Sam Piper and Sarah Rose combined in goal for the shutout.
