JV Girls
Pope 10 - Douglas County 0
Pope JV Girls traveled to Douglas County last Thursday, and had to wait out a thunder storm before they were able to take the field, but the wait was worth it. The girls continued their winning ways by once again shutting out their opponent. Their shutout was their sixth straight for the season. A dominating defense lead by Rachel Aldridge, Hailey Johnston, Kendall Froemming, and Rachel Palmer and backed up by keepers Blair Shortland and Iara Moran will ensure that Pope will have a great future.
The hallftime score of 9-0 meant that the offense could rest easy in the second half, but that is just not their style. 80 seconds into the second half, the Greyhounds scored their tenth goal to end the game. The future looks bright for Pope on both sides of the ball. Alexa Moore scored five goals and had 3 assits for her second
Hat trick.
Scoring went as follows:
Hailey Johnston corner kick finished off by Alexa Moore .
Solo goal by Alexa Moore,
Solo goal by Silvia Kim.

Varsity Girls
The Varisty girls took on Douglas County immediately following the JV girls game. The natural turf field was soggy and soft. Although the puddles sometimes slowed the ball down, it did not slow down Pope's offense. The girls scored seven first half goals, and two second half goals to defeat the Tigers of Douglas County. The defense shutout their opponents for the tenth time this season.
The scoring went as follows:
Emily Gaid - 3 goals
Hat trick, 1 assist
Randi Schroedel - 2 goals, 3 assists
Alexa Carpenter - 2 goals
Ana Elias 1 goal
Alexa Moore 1 goal
Patricia Tancredi - 2 assist

Pope 2 - Douglas County 1
The Greyhounds battled back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to win the Region 5AAAA game in Douglasville. Douglas County had scored with 12 minutes gone in the first half.
Ian Van Buskirk gave Pope (7-2, 6-1) its equalizer when he scored on a penalty kick with 20:37 seconds left in 2nd half. David Smith then added the winner with a beautiful bending goal with 11:22 left in the game when he rebounded a Douglas County clearance, and scored from about 20 yards out.
Aiden Luna saved six shots for Pope, and the defensive backline and mid-fielders did a nice job of stopping Douglas County players from encroaching in Pope territory in the 2nd half.
Pope's next game is Monday at the Pope Hound Pound vs Hiram at 6:00PM.
